Blue Studios partnered with Chegg and Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment on a student-focused social TVC series tied to Going From Broke. Through real student stories, live-action vignettes, and subtle visual overlays, we spotlighted how Chegg helps young people overcome academic and financial challenges. Optimized for mobile and streaming platforms, the series brings empathy, proof of impact, and brand resonance together in powerful 60- and 30-second cuts.

Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment created Going From Broke, a heartfelt unscripted series (Crackle/APlus.com) highlighting young people overcoming financial struggle. Chegg returned as a major integrated brand partner—offering educational support tools and real-world impact on each cast member’s journey.


With this context, Blue Studios produced a series of cinematic social TVCs featuring real students whose lives were transformed by Chegg. We captured their stories with emotional depth, brevity, and brand resonance.

Objective: Personalize Chegg’s role through authentic student narratives tied to the Going From Broke storyline.


Approach:

  • Select four real students from the show who used Chegg’s tools (Study, Math Solver, Textbook services).

  • Create 60‑ and 30‑second social TVCs capturing their challenges and how Chegg empowered their success.

  • Maintain Chicken Soup’s uplifting tone while clearly showcasing Chegg’s role in their growth.



Execution Steps

1. Live-Action Filming

• Shot on location (college campuses, Chandler’s workplace setups).

• Interview-style capture for authenticity—with B-roll of them using Chegg tools in real scenarios (studying, taking tests).

2. Visual Storytelling Elements

• Subtle 2D overlays: Math formulas, textbook icons, product UI animations to illustrate Chegg tools in action.

• Emotional Arch: From stress → discovery → self-improvement, ending with hopeful future outcomes.

3. Format Adaptation

• Produced in 60s hero cuts and 30s variations.

• Delivered in landscape, square, and vertical for multiplatform deployment across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Crackle/APlus promo spots.
