Alcon Magic Mirror was designed as the opening-night anchor for Alcon's New Technology Showcase: a branded interactive experience that made the event feel less like a conventional reception and more like a live demonstration of how technology can sharpen memory, conversation, and participation.

Alcon Magic Mirror is a creative project for Alcon in partnership with Groove Jones, shaped as a connected experience rather than a collection of separate deliverables.
Blue Studios brought strategy, creative direction, design, technology, production, and post together around one clear audience-facing idea.

Guests approached an oversized 4K display, selected a look, and immediately saw themselves translated into a Gatsby-era wardrobe with jewelry, accessories, and period detail. The transformation needed to feel playful but believable, so the visual design and motion logic were pushed toward seamlessness rather than novelty for novelty's sake.

That illusion depended on real-time responsiveness. As people posed, laughed, shifted stance, or interacted with a colleague beside them, the wardrobe treatment tracked naturally with the body, which kept the experience convincing and made the screen itself feel alive.

The work was built to move fluidly across the formats that mattered, balancing a strong visual point of view with a practical delivery system.

The capture moment extended the interaction beyond the mirror. Once a guest committed to a look, the platform recorded a personalized clip, treated it with music and animated graphics, and packaged the result as a short branded shareable designed for immediate download and social circulation.

The handoff was frictionless by design. A unique QR code closed the loop on each session, allowing every guest to leave with a bespoke asset instead of a disposable one-off novelty. That download step turned participation into retention and gave the activation an afterlife beyond the room itself.

Behind the scenes, the wardrobe system was developed as a flexible content framework. Multiple costume directions were explored during concepting, then refined into a male- and female-led styling set that matched the event theme while remaining easy for guests to understand in seconds.

The broader user flow was intentionally simple: walk up, select a look, watch the wardrobe respond in real time, pose for capture, receive the final video. That clarity is what made the technology accessible to doctors, Alcon leadership, and event guests without any need for explanation or supervision.

The mirror also supported one or more people in frame, preserved props like drinks, and responded to gestures such as opening a jacket or placing hands in pockets. Those details are what made the activation feel social rather than solitary, and they helped every captured moment read as personal instead of template-driven.

The result was a branded technology experience that balanced elegance and utility. Alcon guests engaged with the showcase through something memorable, performative, and easy to share, while the event itself gained a signature interaction that expressed innovation in a way people could see, feel, and take with them.
