In collaboration with Republic Records, Blue delivered a striking promo campaign for Of Monsters and Men’s U.S. debut. The fantasy-meets-concert spot elevated the band’s Nordic mystique through original animation and visual effects—earning high praise for its inventive art direction and contributing to the band’s continued rise in the American charts.

To launch the U.S. release of Of Monsters and Men’s breakthrough album My Head Is An Animal, Blue was tapped by Republic Records to concept, design, and produce a visually arresting television and digital promo spot. The goal was clear: elevate the Icelandic band’s ethereal energy and narrative sound into a bold, branded aesthetic that stood out across TV, streaming, and social.
Blending footage from live performances with hand-treated textures, graphic overlays, and surreal 3D matte landscapes, the promo leaned into a dreamlike world inspired by the band’s Nordic roots and mythical lyricism. We built a bespoke fantasy world that mixed frostbitten terrains, gothic creatures, and bursts of color to embody the duality of their music—melancholy and wonder, intimacy and scale.
The design featured key callouts for singles like “Little Talks” and “Mountain Sound,” anchoring the band’s identity in bold typography and creature-themed animations. This hybrid of practical footage and stylized fantasy helped differentiate the band from other indie-alternative acts at the time—positioning them visually as worldbuilders, not just songwriters.
