Blue Studio is thrilled to announce the delivery of a refined holiday TV and social campaign for Mary J. Blige’s A Mary Christmas, created in partnership with Evil Twin Productions and Verve Records. The 30‑second spot combines live‑action performance, delicate CG-enhanced snowflakes, and luxe typography to convey a warm yet modern festive debut. The campaign helped elevate Blige’s first holiday album to a top‑10 Billboard position and RIAA Gold certification. While no dedicated promo awards have been attributed to the spot, it earned strong recognition across key digital outlets at launch.

Set against a pristine white backdrop, the spot brought cinematic performance footage of Mary J. Blige to life, enhanced with subtle snowfall effects, shimmering 3D typography, and CG-set extensions. The creative vision leaned into a modern yet timeless aesthetic—one rooted in soft whites, silver, and gold tones—using snowflake overlays and reflective ornaments to establish a high-end, celebratory atmosphere. Throughout the piece, the names of featured artists like Barbra Streisand, Marc Anthony, and Jessie J appear as floating golden titles, gliding over frosted textures and delicate glass details.
To create a seamless visual world, we integrated live-action footage with computer-generated elements including custom-designed snowflakes, layered ornaments, and a digital set expansion that surrounded Blige with seasonal grandeur. Our team worked closely with Evil Twin to balance real-world materials with the polish of digital artistry, ensuring the promo felt both grounded and elevated. A strong sense of space and dimensionality was achieved through carefully choreographed camera movement, depth of field, and dynamic lighting passes—particularly important when integrating VFX with practical elements like wrapped gift boxes and translucent set pieces.
