For emerging LA-based artist Kaden, Blue developed and directed the debut music video for his first single, Black Light—a surreal commentary on the tension between societal conformity and personal awakening.

Visually, the video explores a dual world structure. The first setting is a pristine, overlit 9-to-5 classroom-like space where individuals are confined to robotic routines—synchronized, lifeless, and mechanical. The second, a bold shift into an expressive dreamworld of ultraviolet glow and kinetic motion, represents breaking free from the expectations and pressures of modern life.

Production challenges included the limitations of black light technology during filming. The UV fixtures available during the shoot didn’t fully deliver the deep fluorescent saturation we envisioned. However, through extensive post-processing—layered color grading, enhanced glow effects, and texture overlays—we crafted a final look that was stylized, dynamic, and evocative of Kaden’s emotional journey.

We employed motion graphics sparingly but effectively to emphasize transitions between realities, integrating practical elements like spinning gears and visual echoes of constraint and liberation. Each frame was considered with music pacing in mind, matching beat shifts with visual intensity and surreal transitions.

Black Light marks a striking introduction to Kaden’s identity as an artist—visionary, rebellious, and emotionally resonant.

“Our biggest challenge became our creative advantage,” said Blue’s director. “When the black lights underperformed, we turned to color grading and surreal transitions to tell the story instead of just lighting it. The result became something deeper than we imagined.”
